Florida Teen Drivers At Greater Risk For Accidents This Summer
From Memorial Day through Labor Day, teen drivers are at a higher risk of being involved in an accident than any other time during the year. For this reason, the time between these two national holidays is dubbed the “100 Deadliest Days For Teen Drivers.” Over 5,000 people died from 2010 to 2014 in car accidents involving teen drivers during the 100 deadliest days of summer. Parents need to be aware of the dangers and the increased risk for teen drivers of being involved in a car crash during the summer.
Teens have more time on their hands during the summer; therefore, those with a driver’s license and a vehicle are on the road much more than during the school year. Furthermore, teen drivers are more likely to have more passengers in the vehicle during the summer than during the school year and they are more likely to travel new routes as they enjoy many of the summer activities in Florida from the beach to the amusement parks.
