Distracted Driving Is the Cause Of Most Car Accidents
Distracted driving is quickly becoming one of the worst epidemics on our country’s roads. The Virginia Tech Transportation Institute published a study claiming that distractions cause the most car accidents. This is despite the numerous programs and initiatives by agencies on the state and federal level to raise awareness of the dangers of driving while distracted.
The three-year study entitled the Second Strategic Highway Research program focused on more than 3,500 drivers between the ages of 16 and 98 years. The drivers allowed researchers to install video cameras in their vehicles to follow them as they drove. The researchers also tracked various factors including speed and location as part of the study.
