Kid’s Chance has launched an exciting new program aimed at providing stable and reliable income so that children of seriously injured workers can attend college. The program has three levels of sponsorship. The Partner Level requires a $20,000 commitment over four years, and the Associate Level requires a $10,000 commitment over four years. Anyone donating $500 or more will be placed within the Supporter Level. Each level has different recognitions for the donations.

About Kids’ Chance

Kids’ Chance was first established in Georgia by a workers’ compensation attorney who saw a need and did something about it. Robert Clyatt wanted to help children of injured workers attend college. Therefore, he began Kids’ Chance of Georgia to raise money for scholarships for the children of injured Georgia workers. The program then spread to other states, arriving in Florida in 2015.

Families Suffer with Their Loved Ones

When a worker is injured on the job, the entire family suffers with their loved one. In addition to the physical and emotional injuries suffered, the family can suffer a great financial burden because their loved one is out of work recovering from the injury. In some cases, workers are unable to return to work because of a permanent disability. Other workers do not survive their injuries. In the case of death, survivors may be entitled to benefits under Florida’s workers’ comp system. A program like Kids’ Chance can help children of injured workers achieve their dream of going to college even though their parent is unable to contribute anything because of a workplace injury. However, this does not take the place of workers comp benefits that families may be entitled to by law. Unfortunately, some employers and insurance companies try to get out of paying valid workers’ comp claims. If you have been denied benefits, it is important that you consult with a Florida workers’ comp attorney immediately. You may be able to appeal the decision to have it reversed, but you are under a deadline to file your appeal. Our Boca Raton workers’ comp lawyers can help you prepare and file your appeal to fight an unjust denial of workers comp benefits.
