Wrong Way Driver Fatally Injures Car Accident Victims in Boca Raton, FL
A 23-year-old Lake Worth man, Subhan Saigol Khurram, was driving south in the northbound lanes of I-95 when he struck another vehicle head on. Khurram’s vehicle hit a car containing two Fort Lauderdale residents Ricardo Franklyn Fletcher and Frans Roy McCatty were pronounced dead at the scene. Khurram was rushed to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition. The Florida Highway Patrol are leading an investigation to determine if Khurram was under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances. The cause of the Boca Raton car accident is still unknown. Investigators will release their findings soon. It is known that Fletcher and McCatty were not wearing safety belts at the time of the car accident. The head-on car accident closed Interstate 95 in the Boca Raton area for almost five hours following the deadly accident. One other car involved in the auto accident had an injured passenger, Cynthia Sobransigh, of Deerfield Beach, FL. Sobransingh sustained minor injuries while the other three occupants of the car were uninjured. All the people in the car were wearing seat belts. According to the FHP none of the other drivers were suspected to be under the influence of controlled substances. Khurram’s driving record shows that he was cited for an open container of alcohol in Palm Beach County a few months ago. He was required to take 2 driver’s improvement classed which he passed. Also, it was recorded that last year he received two tickets for speeding.
